Insurance and Reimbursement Policy

Your insurance may cover part or all of your therapy sessions. If you meet the criteria for a clinical mental health diagnosis, I can provide you with a superbill—a specialized invoice that allows you to seek reimbursement directly from your insurance company.

If you do not qualify for a mental health diagnosis, I cannot provide a superbill.

Please note that I do not communicate or coordinate with insurance providers on your behalf. Any reimbursement you receive should be considered a bonus rather than a guarantee or requirement for working together.

Frequently Asked Questions — Therapy for Divorce, Attachment Trauma, and Midlife

Do you take insurance?
No. I work private-pay only. I can provide superbills for reimbursement if your situation qualifies for a mental health diagnosis, but we won’t know if that applies until our first session.

How will EFIT help me?

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy helps you bridge the gap between the moment that broke you and the way you’re still feeling it today. Whether it’s the day your relationship ended, a betrayal you discovered, or old developmental trauma, the problem isn’t just what happened—it’s that you had to face it alone. EFIT gives you a safe, attuned other (me) to be present with your pain, fear, and anger right now, so your body and mind can finally process what was left unprocessed. The result? You stop reliving the spiral, your nervous system calms, and you reclaim emotional clarity, safety, and even the ability to trust yourself again.

What is your booking policy?
I require a full fee, non-refundable deposit for all intakes for biweekly or weekly therapy. I keep my caseload intentionally small, turning others away so you get focused, high-impact work.

What if I need to cancel?
I require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations. Anything less, including missed sessions, is charged in full.

What happens after I contact you?
Once you reach out, I send an invitation to a secure HIPAA-compliant portal. You’ll complete your intake paperwork there, and 72 hours before your session, you’ll receive a link to your personal meeting room.

How does therapy actually work?
Therapy with me moves at your pace. Some sessions feel heavy, some feel lighter, and often both in the same hour. We explore your inner world, notice your patterns, and uncover the emotions you’ve been carrying. Along the way, you’ll have moments of clarity that help you understand yourself better and start making choices from insight rather than habit.

Do I need a plan or goal before starting?
You don’t need a perfected goal. I do need a sense of what’s relevant for you so our work is focused and meaningful. Maybe you’re just trying to lift the fog enough to start exploring who you are. Maybe you’re ready to go all in on discovering your next chapter. Either way, we shape the work around what matters to you right now.

50 or 80 minute sessions?
I offer 50-minute sessions for focused, high-impact work. 80-minute sessions are reserved for more intensive work and are only opened quarterly. If you want deeper, extended sessions giving you time to warm up without watching the clock - contact me to join the waitlist.

How quickly will I notice change?
You’ll often notice small but powerful shifts early on — moments of clarity, new understanding of your patterns, or a sense of calm where there was chaos. Deep, lasting change takes time, and repetition matters. Think of our sessions as your laboratory: a safe place to experiment, try on new ways of being, and see what actually works before it carries over into your life outside therapy.

What if I’m not sure therapy will work for me?
That’s completely normal. If you’re unsure, an intake session is the best way to see how I work and whether I'm the right fit for you. If I'm not, I'd love to help you find someone who will.
