You Have a Lot You Can't Say Out Loud.
Therapy for Women Who've Had an Affair in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Washington, and Florida.
You have thoughts about your marriage you would never say out loud at dinner with your friends. Feelings you're afraid to admit, even to yourself. Maybe you're attracted to someone else, you've already crossed a line, or you're wondering what it would feel like to be wanted, desired, or understood by someone who isn't your partner. Maybe you're so unhappy in your marriage or relationship that you're starting to question everything, including whether you still want to be in it.
And the hardest part? You don't know what any of it means yet. You can love your partner and still feel desperately lonely. You can feel guilty about your choices and angry about what has been missing for years. You can want to save your marriage one day and want to walk away the next, all while keeping up appearances and carrying questions you wouldn't dare share with the people closest to you.
And then there's the guilt, the confusion, the anger, the longing, and the questions that keep circling in your head when no one else is around. How did I get here? What am I looking for that I can't seem to find in my marriage? Do I want to fix this, or am I just afraid of what happens if I don't? What if I don't want what everyone expects me to want? You might have moments when you desperately want to save your marriage and others when the thought of trying to repair it leaves you exhausted. You may not even know what you want yet, only that something has to change.
You can say all of it here. The thoughts you're ashamed of, the feelings that don't make sense, the resentment you've been swallowing, the desires you've been pushing away, and the truth you're afraid would change how the people you love see you. It's time to be honest with yourself. You're a complex emotional being who is doing the best she can. I'm here to help you sort through it all so your beautiful emotions become the driving force in your decision making. Let's explore them all and find out who you are and what you want.

Why do I feel so alone after having an affair?
Infidelity can be isolating, particularly when you're afraid friends or family will judge you or pressure you to make a particular decision. Even if your partner knows, you may feel unable to talk openly about how you feel. You might feel like you have no right for have any feelings because you are the one who stepped away. You have every right and I'll remind you that your feelings are just as valid as your partner's.
How do I know if I need individual therapy or couples therapy after an affair?
Couples therapy assumes both of you are committed to repair. If you're not both fully committed, the process will stall. Individual therapy is more appropriate if you're unsure and need a guide to help you decide what you want.
I'm also a highly trained couples therapist, but if I see you in individual therapy, I cannot then provide couples therapy for you and your partner. I can, however, refer you to a very capable couples therapist.
